COVID-19 SAFETY

The Oregon Health Authority is drafting new rules regarding COVID-19 safeguards that will be overseen
by OSHA. In order to be in compliance, we wanted to outline these rules, how they impact us, and
what our response is. If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know so we can address
them. Feel free to disseminate this information to our officers as well.
Employers will be required to provide the best air quality we can
- This is not something that we have direct control over. There may be changes at our
indoor sites (upgraded filters, HVAC systems, etc.) but that is something that the
clients will need to handle on their own accord. For those that work outside, this is
not a concern.
Employers must provide PPE
- At this stage, we hope that everyone has reusable masks and are practicing proper
hygiene with them (washing, rotating out, etc.). If someone needs a mask, let us know so
that we can provide one for them. We still have gloves and hand sanitizer available upon
request as most sites are already equipped with sanitizer/soap provided by the client.
If anyone needs some extra, let’s ensure they get the supplies they need. Make sure the
SOD and roving vehicles have those supplies in them.
Rules surrounding PPE
- Again, these are the state requirements as of now: masks must be worn indoors at all
times (unless eating) and outdoors if you can’t maintain six feet of physical distance.
I know a few of our clients have had a mask requirement already in place, but for the
ones that have not, it is now a company-wide requirement for Rovers Security effective
today. We need to ensure everyone is on the same page and following guidelines even if
they have differing opinions on the policies. If anyone has an issue, please have them
contact us directly or let us know so we can contact them. For Eastern Oregon, contact
your manager directly. Per the new rules, we will also be providing literature on how to
wash your hands and other ways to limit the spread.
Employers must notify employees of a workplace infection
- It was only a matter of time until this came about. We would much rather be the ones
to communicate if a positive case has occurred within the company than have the state do
it and create a panic. In the event that there is a positive test, we will put out a
notice. For obvious reasons, we will not discuss who or what site, unless necessary.
Medical exemptions
- If someone has a medical exemption from wearing a mask, please have them contact Eric
or Cassandra. There are specific procedures to follow regarding an exemption.
Everyone has done a great job these past several months. We feel that we have been one step ahead at
all times surrounding these events and that is one of the reasons we have continued to be successful
and have been able to maintain “business as usual.” As you know, we have strongly encouraged and
preached personal responsibility and we honestly feel that everyone has been doing their part to get
through this unprecedented time.
As we move toward the winter months, let’s encourage each other to
continue these safety measures. Keep in mind that cold and flu season is upon us as well, and these
practices can be used to help prevent those other nasty viruses from spreading. As always, feel free
